About Us

We're Lucas and Jihee — swim parents, educators, and the family behind Inattentive Diaries.

We built this because we needed it.

Our boys compete in competitive swimming. We know the chaos that lives in every swim bag: forgotten goggles, pre-race meltdowns, kids who need reminding of everything, and the constant question of whether any of it is actually sinking in.

We also know what it looks like when a child genuinely owns their routine. When they pack their own bag without being asked. When they come off the blocks after a disappointing swim and say — without prompting — "I know what I want to do differently next time." That version of your kid exists. They just need the right tools to get there.

Why we built The Swim Diary

Most swim journals ask kids to face a blank page. That doesn't work for children who already struggle with organisation, focus, or anxiety. It definitely didn't work for ours.

Jihee — an educator with a research background in visual and comic-based learning for children — designed something different. Not a blank journal. Not a spreadsheet in disguise. A binder filled with illustrated comics, visual checklists, structured trackers, and prompts that tell kids exactly what to do next. No blank page staring back at them. Just the next clear step.

It started as a tool for our own family. It found its way into swim bags across Australia.

What we believe

Every product we make follows the same principle: visual, practical, and designed so children can use it independently. Because a tool your child actually picks up and uses — without being reminded — is worth more than any perfect planner sitting ignored at the bottom of a swim bag.

We focus particularly on children who benefit from more structure: kids with ADHD, anxiety, or anyone who thrives with clear visual cues over open-ended prompts. But most young swimmers benefit from having their routine made simple and visible. The research supports it. So does the feedback from families who use it.

A small team. Every order matters.

We're based in Sydney. When you buy from Inattentive Diaries, you're buying directly from the people who made it — and who use it with their own kids at the pool.
